SEPTA, Philadelphia's transit authority, is fairly conservative in how it makes changes to its network.  What this means is that the core of Philadelphia's trolley network survived World War II and the freeway era, only to be dismantled due to persistent streetcar shortages.  This is what the system looked like in 1974.
