The Lost Subways of North America - Canada

Canadian cities tend to have better-preserved city cores than their U.S. counterparts.  This is not because they kept their rail systems.  (With the exception of Toronto, all Canadian cities shut down their streetcar networks.)  Rather, it's because Canadian cities were far less aggressive about urban freeways in the mid-20th century.

The Lost Subways book came out in November 2023; book orders are open.
